Switch to a Laptop and Use Less Energy
It is no surprise to discover that computerized equipment that is now a standard feature of many British households. But with more and more time spent at our home computers the power used to power our computers at home doubled between 2000 and 2005, and is expected to increase in 2020 by a third.
Computers are not the most energy draining appliances but if you are on the market for a new computer, it can consider whether lower energy could meet your alternativeNeeds.
According to the Energy Savings Trust, laptops run on only one third of the energy used by a desktop PC that could, apart from the means COsub> 2-savings, you save more than £ 35 electricity per year by the switch .
Compared to desktop computers of the components in laptops are smaller and more efficient - which operated less power and are therefore less CO2 emissions.
By unenforceable energy rating standards in the computerIndustry, it is not always clear whether your preferred model as energy efficient as you would like it to be. However, the EU Energy Star is a voluntary scheme aims to promote energy-efficient office equipment, so that for products with an Energy Star rating sought.

If you are a Microsoft Windows-compatible laptop with green credentials, an HP laptop could be the choice for you. Prefer HP laptops are designed for longer battery life and a reduction in energy consumption than other laptops. HP products are designed for reliability and expandability thus extending the functional life of laptop computers, saving IT replacement and reduction of waste.
Alternatively, the Sony canVaio notebooks use an LCD screen with an LED backlight, which is mercury free and more efficient than a conventional lamp-based backlighting. An ambient light sensor automatically adjusts screen brightness to save more energy.
By opting for a laptop as a desktop, you can feel good that you are using less energy and do your little bit to reduce carbon emissions.
